Friday 6th December
This Week in TY
This week marked the completion of our QQI Fashion and Special Needs Assistant (SNA) courses. Students successfully finished their final assessments, and we’re now eagerly awaiting their results. Confirmation of dates for the results will be provided by the Portobello Institute in the coming weeks.
On Wednesday, the SNA students sat their final exam, while the Fashion students hosted a spectacular display of their projects in the hall. It was wonderful to see the hard work, creativity, and dedication they put into their projects being celebrated by the entire school community. Congratulations to our TYs on being the only Transition Year students in Ireland to achieve Level 5 qualifications—an exceptional achievement!
Continuing with a packed schedule, Stephen Kiernan visited us on Thursday morning to deliver an inspiring talk on motivation and resilience. Stephen, a renowned motivational speaker, is known for his engaging and empowering sessions, helping young people build the skills and mindset to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. His talk resonated deeply with our students and provided valuable lessons they can carry forward.
Next Week in TY
With Christmas just around the corner, we’ll be getting into the festive spirit next week. Half of our students will enjoy a Christmas movie screening complete with treats, spreading cheer and relaxation after a busy term.
Meanwhile, the other half of the group will be participating in community work with Wicklow Tidy Towns. This initiative gives students a chance to contribute to the upkeep and beautification of our local area by helping with litter collection, planting, and other tasks. It’s also a perfect opportunity for students to log hours towards their Gaisce Award, fulfilling the community involvement element and demonstrating their commitment to making a positive impact.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you as always for your continued support!
